Our Special Areas
We were delighted to join with our community online on Thursday 3 December for the live sharing of our Christmas Remembrance Online Service. With over 60 households tuning into the live sharing of the service it was a beautiful way to take a moment to reflect, connect and encourage each other as we honoured the festive season together.
This special annual service allows our community to honour the lives of loved ones, no longer with us, reflecting on the memories of those who have left an unforgettable mark on our hearts.
Here are some of the beautiful comments and messages shared during the service;
"I miss you my beautiful husband, Foster. Love you always."
"So special to be able to share this service together online, to remember our loved ones. "
"This is my first such Remembrance Service, I attend remembering my mother and friends George, Beryl. Shirley, Barry, Holly and Rebecca. Forever in my hearts"
"Missing you today, and always Granny Grandma. Always and forever in my heart"
"Beautiful service of remembered of loved ones during this special time. Thank you "
One ritual that is commonly shared across many cultures is the lighting of a remembrance candle to pay tribute to a life that has passed. Burning a candle in remembrance of a loved one signifies that their memory lives on and continues to burn brightly within our hearts. During the service, we were honoured to once more, share this tradition lighting a candle of remembrance.
Celebrant Margaret Fitzpatrick shared a touching Christmas message reflecting on joining together in this busy time of year, to set aside time to solely focus on our loved ones, to let them know that they are still very much loved, remembered and valued.
Given that we were unable to join together physically this year we sent a star to community members, to be placed on our Christmas tree in Café Vita et flores at Bunurong Memorial Park in honour loved ones. The tree will be adorned with beautiful messages, of love and remembrance, and it stands as a poignant reminder that although we are physically distant, we are still in this together.
