Important information - St Kilda Cemetery Fence Restoration project

The restoration project is anticipated to take eight months to complete. During this time, there will be some disruption to cemetery visitation, local parking and surrounding roads.

Should you wish to visit a grave or memorial that is in close proximity to the fence restoration work during the project, please contact Customer Care on (03) 9349-3014 or email to arrange access for your visit.

The parking area and footpath along Alexandra Street, St Kilda, will be restricted during the restoration project to allow maintenance vehicle access and to ensure the safety of the community during these important works. There will also be intermittent road restrictions on surrounding roads during the period. Further sections of the wall are being assessed as part of the ongoing rectification works around the cemetery.

  • Customers that have grave sites in the affected areas have been contacted directly by the SMCT Customer Experience Team
  • The utmost care and attention will be given to graves, monuments and head stones in the work site area to prevent any disruption or damage
