Welcoming the RSL to Springvale Botanical Cemetery

03 November 2021
The Returned and Services League Annual Remembrance Day service

On Sunday 7 November, we look forward to welcoming guests from the Returned and Services League (RSL) for their annual commemoration of Remembrance Day.

Approximately 150 guests from the RSL will attend the ceremony, to be held at the Victorian War Graves at Springvale Botanical Cemetery from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. SMCT CEO Jane Grover and Chairperson Dr Vanda Fortunato will also be in attendance, along with special guest Lieutenant Colonel Laureen Grimes of the Royal Australian Transport Corps. Floral wreaths will be laid during the ceremony, which will commemorate the anniversary of Armistice – the end of conflict during WWI – while honouring those who have been lost in all conflicts throughout history.

SMCT is proud to support a time-honoured tradition for the RSL, who have held commemorative ceremonies at the Victorian War Graves each Remembrance Day for 35 years. If you are planning to visit the Victorian War Graves this Sunday, please note that there may be an increased number of visitors as a result of this event, and keep your own (and others’) safety in mind when you visit.
