RSL Remembrance Service at Springvale War Cemetery
Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust was honoured to co-host the RSL Remembrance Service at the Springvale War Cemetery located at Springvale Botanical Cemetery on Sunday 4 November 2018.
Remembrance Day this year marks the 100th year anniversary of Armistice, the cessation of hostilities on the Western front during World War One, 1918 – 2018.
This years’ service event was hosted by Dr Robert Webster (RSL State President) along with many community members in attendance including guest speaker Dr Rosalie Triolo and The Hon. Daniel Andrews, Premier of Victoria.
Wreaths were laid by SMCT chair Sue Renkins, government representatives, the Australian Defence Forces along with members of the RSL, remembering and honouring the lives of brave servicemen and servicewomen.
Cranbourne East Secondary College, Albany Rise Primary School Mulgrave and South Oakleigh Secondary College also attended the event contributing to the service with readings.
The RSL Remembrance Service was followed by a light afternoon tea and refreshments served on-site at the Clarence Reardon Centre function rooms and catered for by Café Vita et flores.
