Important notice for families: Melbourne General Cemetery records requests
Many of our community travel to Melbourne General Cemetery to visit a specific grave or memorial site.
If you are planning to do this, our team can help direct you to the grave or memorial you are looking for.
It's best to plan ahead for your visit to avoid unwanted delays. The information below explains how to prepare for your cemetery visit ahead of time.
Step 1: Request grave locations and maps before you visit
Our team can provide you with a map, and/or information on how to find the grave or memorial site.
To ensure this information is ready for collection when you arrive, we recommend you email your request to mgc@smct.org.au at least 5 business days before your visit.
This allows us to prepare your request so we can meet your needs without disappointment.
While our team will do their best to accommodate all grave location and map requests on the day of your visit, this may not always be possible due to other work commitments.
Step 2: Collect your information, in person or via email
Once you have emailed your request, we can email your map and information directly to you. If you prefer, you can also collect it in person from our office. Please let our team what you would prefer when you email us.
When will you hear back from us?
We aim to respond to all requests within 5 business days. Planning ahead helps us to help you with minimal delay.
