Since it was established in 1901, Springvale Botanical Cemetery has continued to offer generations a peaceful and private setting to celebrate the life of loved ones. This world-class cemetery is widely regarded as Australia’s most beautiful, with 169 hectares (422 acres) of landscaped gardens.

At Springvale Botanical Cemetery, we always want to ensure we are providing spaces where people are able to feel comfortable and come together. In August 2014, we opened our state-of-the-art Clarence Reardon Centre, to provide comfortable and beautifully designed function rooms that offer world-class menus. Inspired to bring the community together, our public café-florist, 'Café Vita et flores' provides a comfortable setting to enjoy a coffee or relaxed lunch with family and friends. Conveniently located next to the café, a fenced in children's playground keeps younger visitors safe and entertained.
Any day of the week, you are welcome to enjoy the grounds, walk the dog, rest on a lawn, enjoy a picnic or explore the grounds by bike. On your next visit, you may have the fortune to spot some of our resident wildlife, including reptiles, possums, echidnas or a variety of birds that all call Springvale Botanical Cemetery home.
Dedicated to sustainability, Springvale Botanical Cemetery's organic waste is recycled on-site and reused within the cemetery for garden bed preparation. Four dams on the property supply water for irrigation, making Springvale Botanical Cemetery entirely self-sufficient. Extensive water management programs, including rainwater tank facilities, help us provide responsibly managed water to gardens and water features.
Our dedicated team care for over 12,000 trees and over 30,000 roses scattered throughout Springvale Botanical Cemetery's various formal and informal garden displays, keeping the grounds in pristine condition year round. Available to the public, the ever-popular rose pruning demonstrations take place annually. These are a great way to meet some of our team and learn industry tips and tricks for growing and maintaining your own roses.

Located next to Springvale Botanical Cemetery, the centre provides a range of programs focused on wellness for the ultimate benefit of our client families.

Springvale Botanical Cemetery History
Springvale Botanical Cemetery pioneered the concept of public lawns in Victoria from the 1950s. It features over 30,000 roses of 300 different varieties, making it one of the largest cemetery rose gardens in Victoria. Because of this, it has fast become a world-class, multicultural space, with many breathtaking botanical features.
