Cheltenham Memorial Park is a Community Focused Cemetery
Established in 1933, Cheltenham Memorial Park is a distinctive community cemetery characterised by stately palms, nurtured gardens, extensive lawns and ornate gazebos. The classic garden style-grounds offer a quiet sanctuary for families to reflect on the lives of their loved ones. Amongst the 20 hectares (50 acres) of manicured gardens, many adorned monuments accentuate the cemeteries proud history.
The landscaped gardens create a private place of reflection year-round, thanks to a skilled team who work tirelessly to create a place of beauty and solace. To honour the promise and commemoration over many generations, Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) cares for the daily operations of Cheltenham Memorial Park, reporting directly to the Victorian Minister for Health. SMCT is committed to supporting the community in honouring and celebrating their loved one as they choose.
We understand that everyone has the right to honour life the way they choose. We offer a culturally diverse range of burial, mausoleum and cremation memorial options to help families observe traditions and ceremonies important to them.
Our customer care team are available to arrange a tour of our gardens and discuss options that may be appropriate to your wishes. We understand that everyone's grief journey is unique. Our customer care team can support you with advice anchored in care and at a pace sympathetic to your needs.
We understand memories are forever and Cheltenham Memorial Park is a tranquil setting that provides a safe place for generations to remember those that are important to them. We are committed to the future sustainability of our gardens and continually seek new innovative ways to reduce our impact while honouring the changing needs of our diverse community.

Cheltenham Memorial Park History
Cheltenham Memorial Park was established in 1933 after an increase in demand for grave sites occurred at Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery in the late 1920s. Decades later the construction of several modern mausoleums were built after plans for an on-site crematorium were not successful.Discover Our Rich History
