We are delighted to host a Children's Remembrance Service on Sunday 3 December. A way for our community to come together, pause for a moment, reflect and remember the children who are no longer with us.
For many, attending a service has become a cherished annual tradition to commemorate their beloved children, while for others, this might be a new experience. We are privileged to hold this beautiful event and hope it offers a space for you to honour and celebrate the memories of your children.
During the service, we set aside a special moment for the recalling of the star. This star was acquired and named ‘Eternal Light’ in memory of all the babies and children who we remember every year during our Children’s Remembrance Service, a tradition we have upheld since the first service in 2005.
The ‘Eternal Light’ star stands as a symbol of unwavering love, comfort and joy. It illuminates our nightly sky today and will continue to do so for the days, years, and generations that follow. We hope its radiant glow serves as a constant reminder that throughout the grief process that you are not alone. This year, our Children's Remembrance Service is an opportunity for support, connection, and bringing comfort to one another.
Should you wish to share a message on our floral tribute wall, please consider joining us at Café Vita et Flores located within Springvale Botanical Cemetery. We encourage you to place your tribute cards on this wall - let it symbolise that our spirits and memories still bind us together.

It is an outdoor event, and will include a special moment to acknowledge our 'Eternal Light' star, an actual star and symbol named in memory of the children created as part of an SMCT service specifically for children in 2005. The service aims to offer a supportive space for reflection and remembrance.
Registration opens at 4:00 pm for a 5.00 pm start. While the service itself will run for an hour, the event is expected to finish by 7:30 pm.
The outdoor event will be held in a marquee at the side of the Clarence Reardon Centre at Springvale Botanical Cemetery. This area is located outside the Botanical and Eucalyptus rooms.
As part of the experience, there will be an opportunity for children to play lawn games and families can also write their special messages to be placed on the floral tribute wall at the event.
After the event, the floral tribute wall will be kept at Café Vita et Flores and will be open to all families to place a tribute message during the month of December.
Alongside a selection of light refreshments, there will be a dessert buffet table featuring an assortment of sweet treats after the service for attendees to enjoy. We strive to cater to various dietary needs.
