Melbourne General Cemetery’s heritage-listed Gate Lodge will again be opened to the public from 10.00am - 4.00pm on 27th and 28th July 2019, along with free guided tours.
View a wonderful display of nineteenth century mourning dresses and take a free guided tour throughout our heritage listed site.
Visitors can participate in self-guided tours or book in for free guided tours of the Gate Lodge and cemetery, visiting a number of notables including Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies, explorers Burke and Wills and the famous ghost of the Princess Theatre, Federici.
What's Open at Melbourne General Cemetery?
Most spaces of the historic Gate Lodge are open, including the boardroom and rear room on the ground floor and the entire second floor. A wonderful display of mourning dresses from the nineteenth century loaned from the National Trust will be exhibited within the Gate Lodge along with antique furniture pieces, artefacts and historical panels.
