Our Structure
Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) is a purposed not-for-profit organisation, responsible for the perpetual care and maintenance of the 362 manicured hectares under its management.
SMCT is governed by a board of nine highly skilled and experienced Trust members who bring a balance of public, not-for-profit and private sector experience to the organisation.
Formed in March 2010, under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003, the Trust, led by Chairperson Dr Vanda Fortunato, reports to the Minister for Health, the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP, through the Cemetery Sector Governance Support Unit of the Department of Health.
